Why I’m a bit “eh” about the Huntress-as-Robin thing

latkje:

This just ties her more to Batman and the legacy of her father as opposed to Catwoman and the legacy of her mother.

I mean, so few opportunities for female legacies in comics as it is (and I’m assuming they’re retconning Black Canary’s origins) so, uh, “eh.”

But we’ll see how this works out.

Agreed on this. What I always liked about the Helena Wayne Huntress was she honored both her parents. The old stories didn’t push Selina’s side as often as they could have frankly. She kept a separate identity from the Bat-legacy names, so she wasn’t Batgirl/Batwoman/etc. I get the symmetry and I get the “woohoo, a Girl is too a Robin”, but I’m annoyed if Huntress is just a DCNu Earth identity Helena developed. I’m willing to wait and see though.
