Commission for Nick and Nora Charles (with Asta) from the Thin Man series of films.
Oh this is *adorable*. I was just listening to the “Return to the Thin Man” audiobook last night. They’re basically Dashiell Hammett’s screen stories for the subsequent Thin Man movies. They read more like radio plays in some ways, since they lack the usual dialogue tags. (Also occasional asides and production notes…)

Publishers Weekly broke the news yesterday. My series Cleopatra in Space got picked up by Scholastic:
In a two book deal with Scholastic/Graphix, [David] Saylor and editor Cassandra Pelham bought the first two books in Mike Maihack’s new middle-grade graphic novel series, Cleopatra in Space, starring a cheeky teenage Cleopatra—yes, the teenaged Egyptian Queen—who is transported into the future and enrolled in an academy to train her to save the galaxy from an evil threat. Publication for Book #1, Target Practice, is scheduled for 2014. [The deal was negotiated and finalized by Judy Hansen of the Hansen Literary Agency]
These are new stories—or rather one gigantic new story—separate from the webcomic. For those interested in knowing more, I wrote a quick Q&A about the deal over on CiS.
Brand new Cleo story! This is wonderful news. More people discovering Maihack’s art!

Another quick little meeting sketch. I always seem to sit there doodling girls in jackets.
